Support Reed through connection, leadership, and community.
All for Reed (AFR) volunteers serve as trusted ambassadors for the college. People whelp others stay connected to Reed and understand the impact of philanthropy on students and the community.
This is more than a fundraising program. It is a leadership volunteer opportunity rooted in relationships, participation, and shared investment in Reed's future.

Personal Outreach Matters
People are far more likely to engage with Reed when they hear from someone they know and trust.
All for Reed volunteers
- reach out personally to alumni, parents, and friends of the college;
- encourage participation in the Annual Fund and other engagement opportunities;
- help strengthen connections within the Reed community;
- share stories about the impact of Reed and why continued support matters;
- serve as ambassadors during key moments throughout the year.
Volunteers also lead by example through their own philanthropic support of Reed.
We choose to give to Reed College because we believe that a good education can change the trajectory of a student’s life. Reed’s inclusive environment, small classes, excellent professors, and support for curiosity and critical thinking reinforce our desire to support the college. We encourage other families to consider a gift to the Reed Annual Fund – every gift has a lasting effect for current and future students and enhances the possibilities for continued excellence.
-Dawn Grove, AFR volunteer, parent of Natalie ’27 & Annual Fund donor
I choose to give to Reed College because of my deep respect for a liberal arts education. It is the foundation for the development of values, especially empathy. Reed's education produces responsible citizens who support democratic institutions. A liberal arts education teaches critical thinking, humbleness in the face of apodictic thinking, openness to new ideas, and the desire to test them in science and ethics. Reed is the apotheosis of a liberal arts education and needs to be nurtured and financially supported!
-Glenn Davis ’68, AFR Co-Chair & Annual Fund donor
Why It Matters
The Annual Fund provides immediate, flexible support for the areas of greatest need across the college.
Volunteer outreach helps sustain that support by increasing participation, strengthening relationships, and reinforcing a culture of engagement and philanthropy within the Reed community.
Together, AFR volunteers help:
- expand financial aid and ensure access for talented students;
- sustain rigorous academics, research, and close faculty mentorship;
- sustain the residential and intellectual experience that defines Reed;
- strengthen long-term alumni and parent engagement;
- ensure Reed can respond to emerging needs and opportunities.
Because Annual Fund gifts are spent in the year they are given, the impact is immediate and directly felt by current students.
A Community of Trusted Volunteers
All for Reed volunteers are part of a highly engaged network of alumni and parents who care deeply about the future of the college.
Volunteers receive
- direct partnership with Advancement staff;
- opportunities to connect with alumni and parents across generations;
- early insight into college priorities and engagement efforts;
- a meaningful way to contribute leadership, perspective, and advocacy.
Many volunteers serve over multiple years and become important ambassadors, mentors, and community builders within the Reed network.
