Alumni Peer Mentor Network
Whether you’re exploring a new career path, preparing for a big interview, or seeking real-world advice from someone who’s been there, Reed’s alumni network is here for you.
Reed Alumni Méntōr Program
The Reed Alumni Méntōr Program (RAMP) is a volunteer-driven network that brings together alumni across generations and industries to offer career insights, guidance, and support. This new initiative combines and expands two existing programs: Alumni Career Coaches and Communities of Purpose Pathfinders.
The word “mentor” comes from Homer’s Odyssey, where Odysseus entrusts his friend Méntōr to guide his son, Telemachus. The goddess Athena disguised herself as Méntōr to provide wisdom to Telemachus as he navigated life’s challenges. It’s an apt reference for a Reedie volunteer who provides guidance for other alumni navigating their careers and professional lives post-Reed.
Through RAMP, mentors provide advice on a range of topics:
- Exploring potential paths
- Refining resumes and cover letters
- Navigating the job search
- Networking
- Interviewing
- Skill development
- Job shadowing
Every mentoring relationship will be as unique as the Reedies involved, with the volunteer mentor and inquiring alum determining how they interact and for how long they maintain a connection.
