Alumni Relations & Volunteer Engagement

June 5, 2020 Email to Alumni

This email was sent to alumni on June 5, 2020.

In the last week and a half we have witnessed a mobilization for racial justice on a scale not seen in decades. In cities across the country we know there are Reedies leading this charge, many of whom have been fighting this fight for years. As we grapple with how to enact meaningful change for our own campus and the broader Reed community, you give us hope that change will indeed come.

We see you. We support you. We stand beside you in the fight to end police brutality and systemic racism.

Like our nation and world, we at the college must work harder to be anti-racist and inclusive. We recognize that the work to address these issues should not be a burden for our Black community members to bear.

There is no challenge too great for a Reedie. You’ve proved that time and again. In case you missed it, Reed’s Office of Institutional Diversity has compiled a list of organizations that stand in solidarity against racial injustice.

The strength of Reed is the power of our community and our connections with one another. We want you to know that we and your alumni community are here for you.

In solidarity and hope,

Love Reed
