Regional Alumni Chapters
Alumni Chapters strengthen community ties between Reedies by organizing events for alumni, including museum visits, happy hours, book clubs, holiday parties, community service—and any other fun events thought up by creative volunteers. Alumni Chapters serve as great places to connect with other Reedies whether you’re new to a region or just want to reconnect with others who share your Reed values of critical thinking and rigorous inquiry.

Do you live in a chapter region but don’t receive emails for chapter events? Make sure your IRIS profile is up to date and includes your current address. Updating your profile also helps fellow Reedies connect with you. Need help logging in? Check out our IRIS Guide or email alumni@reed.edu for assistance.
*Austin and Bay Area chapters are currently in need of volunteers. Email the office of Alumni Relations if you are interested in organizing an event in those areas.
Host your own regional event
Alumni events come in all shapes, sizes, and forms. An event is successful when Reedies gather to establish or strengthen bonds with each other or the college. Events can be simple or elaborate, from small book clubs, to attending lectures, to grabbing a bite to eat. Events are not limited to chapter regions. As long as there are Reedies interested in your idea, we can help you organize an event!
At the most simple, an event requires:
- A date: ideally selected at least 6-8 weeks in advance so there is enough time to spread the word and generate some buzz.
- A location: anywhere you can fit a group of Reedies will do. Virtual events are also an option!
- A Reedie host: That’s you! Your willingness to show up and spark conversations with your fellow alumni is critical to the success of any alumni event.
