Nominations for Alumni Board service starting in July 2024

In accordance with the constitution of the Reed College Alumni Association, and following a call for nominations, the Nominating Committee of the Alumni Association hereby gives notice of the following nominations to the Alumni Board. All terms begin July 1, 2024. Some of the following biographical sketches have been edited for space.

In all offices for which there is only one nominee on January 1, the nominee shall be considered elected as of that date, except that the Board of Trustees must approve the alumni trustee nomination. Additional nominations for each vacant position may be submitted by petition from the membership. Said petitions must contain the name and a brief biographical sketch of the nominee, the office to be filled, and the signatures of 50 or more members of the Alumni Association. Petitions must be received by the college on or before January 1. The nominations process is described in the constitution

Secretary (One-Year Term)

Laramie Van Duzer Silber ’13

Laramie lives in New York and New Jersey and is an online journalist with Wirecutter, with previous work in nonprofit management and event planning. She majored in anthropology. Laramie has been an Alumni Board member, chair of the Committee for Young Alumni, and co-chair of the New York Chapter.

At-Large Board Members (Three-Year Term)

Sofiya Deva ’17

Sofiya lives in Miami, Florida, and is a social entrepreneur. She majored in religion at Reed. Sofiya has served as a panelist and moderator for Center for Life Beyond Reed events.

Matt Giger ’89

Matt lives in Portland, Oregon, and is a mobile software architect for eBay. He majored in physics. Matt is currently serving as the Reed Career Alliance chair.

Kip Guy ’90

Kip lives in Lexington, Kentucky, and is the dean of pharmacy and professor of pharmaceutical sciencesat the University of Kentucky. He majored in chemistry. As an alum, Kip has been an admission volunteer.

Angelique Thomas ’09

Angelique lives in New Orleans, Louisiana, and is a social worker and grant advisor. She majored in religion. She has been involved in the Reed Career Network and Reed Alumni Connect.

Thomas Weber ’83

Thomas lives in Bainbridge Island, Washington, and is an independent college counselor. Thomas majored in history before becoming a teacher at Eagle Harbor High School. Recently, he has engaged with the Reed community through Xenia and as a social media ambassador.

alea adigweme ’06

alea lives in Los Angeles, California, and is a cultural worker. She majored in Russian. alea has served in many alumni volunteer capacities, including the following: the President’s Advisory Council; the Alumni Board, including roles as president, chair of the executive and nominations committees, and founding co-chair of the Diversity & Inclusion committee; and reunion committees for her class.

Peter Miller ’06

Peter lives in New York and is the senior research fellow at the Brennan Center focusing on redistricting, voting, and elections. He majored in political science. Pete has been involved with Alumni Fundraising for Reed, Alumni College, and the Reed Career Alliance and is currently chair of the New York Chapter Steering Committee.

Jim Quinn ’83

Jim lives in Portland, Oregon, and is the hazardous waste program supervisor at Metro—the regional planning and governing agency for the Portland metropolitan area. He majored in chemistry. Some of Jim's recent alumni volunteer activities include serving on the Portland Chapter Steering Committee, the Westwind Committee, and the Chapter Leadership Council.

Sarah Getz ’04

Sarah lives in Miami, Florida, and is a neuropsychologist at the University of Miami. She majored in psychology. She has volunteered at Reed is with SEEDS (Students for Education, Equity, and Direct Service).

Greg Ippolito ’89

Greg lives in Austin, Texas, and is a professor at the University of Texas at Austin. He majored in physics.

Lisa Saldana ’94

Lisa lives in Eugene, Oregon and is a senior research scientist and associate director at Lighthouse Institute - Chestnut Health Systems. Lisa majored in psychology. Her prior volunteer work at Reed involved the Alumni Board, including executive and nominations committees (vice president twice!), Reunions committees, and the Board of Trustees. She also served as a student mentor.
